Reading

It has been successfully shown that children that read regularly excel better in all areas of life.  Therefore, in Key Stage 2 we encourage our children to read as much as possible. Your child should always have a reading book in their bag along with their reading record.  It is their responsibility to change their books when they are ready.   We expect parents to listen/supervise their child reading at least 5 times a week.  This may seem a high expectation, but as reading is the essential ingredient to good progress, I think you would agree it is an expectation worth meeting.

PE

Please ensure your child has the correct named PE kit (detailed within this pack) and it is kept in school at all times.  Pleae remember to name bags and all items of clothing.

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a regular basis, normally a Friday and due in on Wednesday.  Speed tables will be sent home every week night to complete overnight for marking the following day.  There will also be big projects from time to time that children will have longer to complete.

Snack & Drinks

As a healthy eating school, we encourage children to drink throughout the day.  Water is the best drink for children to have as it is the healthiest and if spilt does not attract ants!  They can also bring in a piece of fruit to eat at lunchtime. (No Sweets, fruit rolls etc).

Topic

In Key Stage 2 we intend to have lots of fun-filled topic days where parents will be invited to discover what we have learnt at the end of the year. This is an opportunity for children to share what they do at school and a great way to show an interest in your child's learning.
