Year 4 Mrs Doolan

Our Team:

Class Teacher:  Mrs Doolan

Support Staff: Mrs Stuart , Mrs Longmore and Mrs Morris

Reading

In year 4 we believe that reading is exceptionally important to childrens' all round development. Therefore we expect children to read at home at least 5 times a week. Children who achieve this will receive the recognition they deserve with their regular reader star displayed on the window for all to see. Five to ten minutes a day is all that is needed to greatly increase your child’s progress in all areas.

Children who do not read 5 times a week will attend a reading club on Thursday lunchtime to ensure they read with an adult.

Speed Tables

As some of you may be aware in year 4 we give children speed tables to complete 4 times a week. It has been proven again and again that being able to recall your times tables rapidly and accurately can help your children within all areas of the maths curriculum. We ask that you support them with this by ensuring they complete them and see the benefit of doing so.

P.E.

P.E. happens twice a week on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Please ensure your child has all their kit for both of these days and that every item is named and suitable for use.

Curriculum

Our topics for his year are World War II, The Americas and Stone Age to Iron Age.
